The Azalea House is still in bloom - only now in March and April the late-flowering varieties start to open their white, pink and purple flowers.

The collection of Azaleas in the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia holds more than 100 different varieties, thus making it the largest collection of Azaleas in Baltic countries. Work on these exotic plants was started in 1957 by Professor Rihards Kondratovičs. Since then, varieties from Europe, Russia, and Ukraine have been collected, and also new sorts made here in Rīga. Many of plants are more than 50 years old and have reached a huge size with 2 meter wide crown.

In March the Botanical Garden is open from 9 A.M. till 4:30 P.M., whilst in April the working hours will extend till 7 P.M.
