In the spring of 2019, an experimental vegetable garden was created in the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia, where the most classical edible plants are planted. This allows a young and old visitors to explore how the fruits and vegetables grow before they come to our table.

Edible fruit, vegetables and herbs are planted in mixed combinations according to the knowledge of their best "neighbours" and the fitoncid properties of each plant. By properly combining plants according to these methods, it is possible to reduce disease and pest damage by obtaining a healthier and larger harvest.
