The Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia invites you to celebrate its centenary together on an amazing winter walk “LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS”. The walk will delight you with audio-visual installations related to the history of the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia and will allow you to dip into the world of botany and science, and to honour the employees of the garden and appreciate their work. This is an invitation to celebrate the centenary together by becoming a part of this beautiful garden – even if just for a moment, as we have all created this beautiful Botanical garden together – an oasis in the heart of Riga.
During the opening evening of the winter walk “LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS” on December 21 the guests of the Botanical Garden will be invited to immerse in a winter walk, to enjoy audio-visual installations, and to try out some games with balls of light. At 6:30 PM we will celebrate the Winter Solstice in our pop-up coffee-shop “Greenhouse” together with folk music band “Brička”. The coffee-shop will have a special festive post-office where everyone will have an opportunity to send a postcard with a stamp issued in honour of the centenary of the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia.
The winter walk “LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS” will open up on December 21 at 5 PM and will welcome visitors every evening from 5 PM till 10 PM (tickets will be sold and entrance will be open until 9 PM) up until January 31. We invite you to experience the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia in a different light and from a different perspective through various interesting light and audio-visual objects.
